Mission Accomplished.

Last week I said that I was going to work on 2 things:
  • Getting Maddix to sleep in his bassinet.
  • Feeding Maddix only when he’s truly hungry {every 2 1/2 – 3 hours}.
Well, I’m happy to say that we accomplished both of these! There were a few things that helped us accomplish these tasks.
“The Wedge”

Thanks to my friend Sarah for letting me borrow this amazing device! Such a lifesaver! Every new mother needs one of these. This is the only way that Maddix will actually sleep in his bassinet!
“Soothie” aka: “Ugly Green Pacifier”

Maddix has learned that when it’s not eating time, but he still wants to cry, he can enjoy the amazing soothie. This has been a major lifesaver for Brig and I. Another way to put it- this kid has some lungs!
Maddix is working on…
  • Tummy Time. {Maddix is already lifting his head!}
  • Sleeping at least 4 hours through the night. {Last week Maddix slept 4 hours between feedings 2 of the nights!}

My New Adventure.

I will be starting Dental Hygiene school at Phoenix College in August. I hate the thought of leaving Maddix to go to school, but I’m trying not to think about it at the moment! Even though it will be hard for me to leave my little boy, I am excited to finally know that I’m on my way to being a Dental Hygienist! I’ve been wanting to do this since my sophomore year of high school. If any of you are wondering what I’m going to do with my little man while I’m at school….it’s called “Amazing family”. My mom, sister, & husband are so excited for me to be continuing my education. Since they all want me to go so bad, they’re going to help me with Maddix. Brigham will hopefully have a new schedule with work by then where he can be at home with Maddix a couple hours a day or one day a week. It will be an interesting experience! Wish me luck :)

Our New Life

We are loving life with our new little guy! He will be 2 weeks old tomorrow. Time flies! He is such a sweetheart. It melts my heart every time I look at that big lipped, chubby cheek, brown haired boy. He has been sleeping pretty well through the night which is amazing! Hopefully it stays that way! {fingers crossed}. He already has such a little personality. He loves making silly faces and smiling in his sleep. {My personal favorite}. He is already a huge fan of his dad. After screaming for 5 minutes non stop with me trying to do everything I can to make him happy so that he doesn’t turn purple, I hand him over to Brig and he is content as can be. I think he’s getting a little tired of the same face everyday. I don’t blame him!
This week we’re working on lots of new things!
  • Moving him from the swing to the bassinet to sleep at night.
  • Not feeding him every single time he cries. Only when I know he’s really, truly hungry {every 3 hours}. I know…seems like common sense but I always feel like he’s hungry when he cries!
We’ll see how I do! Overall, I love being Maddix’s mom! I’m so excited to watch this kid grow up. I just hope it doesn’t happen too fast!

What I’m Grateful For

Maddix Brigham Weight joined our little family on February 9, 2010 at 1:45pm. He is such an angel. He weighed 6 lbs 12 oz and is 21 in long. He has dark brown hair and the cutest little face ever. He definitely looks so much like his daddy, but has his mommy’s coloring.
Have you ever had to leave the hospital without your baby? I’m sure several of you have and that’s what I’m finally coming to accept! Maddix has jaundice so he had to stay at the hospital 1 more night. This morning we called to see how he’s doing and they said that his bilirubin level went up more and that they needed to keep him monitored for 6-8 more hours. Hopefully he’ll be able to come home after that! We miss him!

Through all this it made me think of everything that I’m grateful for:
  • The gospel- I can’t imagine my life without it. I am so grateful to have a strong testimony of my Savior Jesus Christ.
  • The Plan of Salvation- I love knowing that I can live with my family for eternity.
  • Brigham- I have such an incredible husband. He is such a hard worker and has such a strong testimony. He treats me so well. I love him so much!
  • Maddix- I am so excited to have Maddix in our family. This little guy is such a sweetheart and brings us so much joy!
  • Family- I have the most amazing family. My parents are great examples and do so much for us. I love being a part of the Weight family as well. They are so much fun to be around!
  • Temple- I love going to the temple with Brigham. I love going there and feeling the spirit so strong. It is such a beautiful place. I am so grateful to have the temple so close by!

Here Comes Maddix!!

Sorry if this title fooled you…no Maddix is not here yet unfortunately. BUT…he should be here very soon! When I went in for my 36 week appointment, my doctor found out that I was 1 cm dilated and 50-60% effaced which is pretty good for 36 weeks! So I went in for my 38 week appointment yesterday and found out that I am 2 cm dilated and 75% effaced! He said that I am progressing a lot. YAY! Tonight I’ve been having lots of cramping which means I’m progressing even more! This baby could be here any day!! :) Wish me luck. I’m going to need it! Can’t wait for you to join us Maddix!
