boston&new york

my sister melanie lives in boston and i’ve been wanting to go visit her so bad, but just didn’t think it was going to ever happen. well, we made it happen finally! my little sibs and i took a trip to see her last week. we had such a blast! we are all so close so we had fun teasing each other, laughing over inside jokes, sleepovers in mel’s tiny {but adorable} room, and just spending quality sib time together :)

on thursday morning we drove to new york and spent thursday night in the bronx and then spent all friday in nyc and headed back to boston late friday night. we were all a little nervous to be sleeping in the bronz and had no idea what our hotel would be like. it ended up being super nice! we wanted to stay there longer!

new york consisted of a picnic in central park, the american museum of natural history, the shake shack for dinner, yummy cupcakes for dessert, nyc temple, times square, forever 21, h&m, statue of liberty {3 hour line just to get on the ferry!}, ellis island, wall street, ground zero, starbucks hot chocolate, chinatown, mcdonalds ice cream, and lots of subway rides!

Boston consisted of John Adam’s house, Eagles deli, Crema Cafe, JP Licks ice cream, Harvard square, shopping, Freedom trail {USS Constitution, location of boston massacre, bunker hill monument, paul revere’s house, old north church, historical cemetery, Easter dinner with friends, really yummy pizza, homemade burritos made my mel, she’s the man, mary poppins, singles ward, canoli’s from mike’s pastry’s, and lots of walking!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY BRIG!

on saturday brig turned 24. i just laugh every time he says that he’s past his prime, his body is falling apart, and his metabolism is now coming to a halt.

we celerated with….

Oregano’s wings & free birthday pasookie, out to see a movie, cycling class at the gym, new shoes for him, new suit for maddix :), lunch at YC’s, relaxing afternoon, no yard work, playing in the backyard, family walk, cousin’s wedding reception, joe’s farm grill, an attempted movie night at siblings {maddix killed that one}, church on sunday, and dinner at my parents house. what a fun weekend.

brig, thanks for being such an awesome guy. i am so lucky to be married to such a handsome, smart, athletic, talented, kind, loving guy. thanks for always loving me no matter what. you’re the best! can’t wait to spend lots more birthdays with you! i love you!

p.s. i’m heading out of town on wednesday with little brother and sister. nervous to leave my boys, but excited to see mel and the amazing boston AND new york!!!

monday night we went to the dbacks game with my brother in law and sister in law. they hooked us up with sweet seats! brig was in heaven..

had to capture this moment..unfortunately i was a little late. he was reading the red tractor book to his right, while sitting on his toy truck. but instead, i caught him hitting everything around him with his toothbrush, while sitting on his toy truck. lovely.

he is the most independent kid i know. doesnt want me to hold his hand. doesnt want to follow me. maybe im just not cool enough for him??

patience

lately i’ve been struggling with patience. for some reason jimmer and maddix know just how to push my buttons and by noon i’m done being dog owner. jimmer & maddix wake up at the same time. jimmer wants to play. maddix wants me to nurse him. jimmer doesnt want me to nurse maddix. jimmer jumps and bites us both. anyways..i know i only have one child but i still lose my patience. i am working on it..
luckily i have an amazing supportive husband who i can call and talk to and cry to when its real bad. he listens and listens and tells me to buy ice cream. he knows me too well. i am so grateful to have a husband that loves me unconditionally no matter what.
this past weekend we had the opportunity of listening to the prophets & apostles of our church speak to the world. i was so touched by several of the talks and have a lot i’m going to work on. i am so grateful to belong the only church that has a prophet on the earth today who receives revelation and guidance from the Lord for our entire church. one of my favorite talks from conference was elder richard g. scott’s. you can listen to his talk here. it is incredible! it even made me cry the second time i watched it. it talks about marriage and how sacred it is. it talks about the joy and happiness that you can receive from being married for time and all eternity and how to better your marriage by giving service to each other and loving each other unconditionally.

i really do love being a mom. as impatient and frustrated as i get sometimes, i wouldnt change it for the world. being a mom is so rewarding and i love my family more than anything.
