MR. THUMB.

At first i was thinking this was not so fortunate due to many reasons {buck teeth, impossible habit to break, not being able to take it away without hurting him. etc.} UNTIL, i go into his bedroom one day and realize that he had lost his binky, but luckily he had good ol’ Mr. Thumb to keep him happy.

Maybe it’s not so bad after all?? he sucks his left thumb. does this mean he will be left handed? that’s what my anatomy teacher told me so we will see!

mr. maddix loves smiling. he’s a gonna be heart breaker with that big smile..look out ladies! maybe when he looses the double chin?? i think he pulls it off great!

my incredible husband just got promoted to a manager at the university of phoenix. he’s only been working there for less than a year & a half, so i am way proud & felt the need to brag. plus, he get’s home earlier so i’m a happy woman! good job brigham, you’re amazing!

happy 23rd birthday! wow. you are an OLD man. think about it, you like to golf {OLD man sport}, you have a couple gray hairs {i may give you them…or they may be a birthmark, one of the two}, you are a dad, & you like to watch OLD movies{yes. free willy & mighty ducks are OLD movies}. anywho, i still love you oodles & gobs. thanks for being such a hard worker. you do so much for mr. maddix & i. we love when you get home from work each day! thanks for always making me laugh my socks off. you rock. thanks for being the best daddy maddix could ever ask for. it is apparent by that huge grin of his that he loves you so so much. thanks for dating me, then buying me a ring, then marrying me, & continuing to date me. best thing that has ever happened to me. thanks for always loving me even when i’m a silly girl. you’re truly a gem and a half. thanks for always buying me ice cream. even if i get fat. i will be fat & happy. thanks for speaking spanish to me quite frequently. thanks for bearing with my spanish learning process of one word daily. thanks for being born. for choosing to come down to earth at the time you did. it makes me happy. thanks for always making up songs about me. you are too talented. in everyway. i love how you always change any song to fit us. i love us. i love your birthday. you really do deserve that candy bar poster i made you. i promise. & maddix loves his new “RAD LIKE DAD” outfit that i bought in honor of you. thanks for loving your wife. she loves you more than anything that this world could ever offer. she loves her best friend. thanks for always being unselfish. you always ask me where we want to go for dinner & what movie i want to watch. thanks for playing with maddix while i do my five minute runs. thanks for not judging me when i do my five minute runs. & thanks for not judging me when you can do the whole ab ripper, while i can only do about..half {well almost half.}. my abs are still quite weak from my once pregnant self. thanks for being brigham L. weight. i decided that the L needs to stand for something. it will be “Luscious” or “Lovely” {you can pick}. anways, happy birthday to my most wonderful husband!

Time flies

and Mr. Maddix is already 2 months old! our little man is growing like no other! he is surprising us with new things everyday.
things we {love} about MADDIX.
he is now smiling lots. he is sleeping a whoppin’ 5 hours before his middle of the night feeding. doesn’t cry during diaper changes. learning to like {not cry during} his baths. loves to suck on his wrist, not his thumb…his wrist. loves lights-he could stare at them in silence for awhile, awhile meaning no longer than 10 minutes. loves music, he prefers primary songs & colbie caillat :) {as does his mommy. although, dad would argue that he prefers country & maybe a little rap}. needs to be constantly moving {we blame this one on his daddy}. gaining lots & lots of chub, which = more rolls. which = more to love. looks like his daddy. has lots of crazy dark brown hair. big blue eyes. has big lips. loves to track things with his eyes. loves to cuddle.
MADDIX already has several nicknames.
stinkerbottomous. london {as in london bridges falling down. dont ask. brig gave it to him!}. maddeex. maddy. mad dog. mr. maddix. bud. little man.

i have the sweetest husband. no, we did not get in a fight, he just is spontaneous & awesome like that. he proceded to thank me for being the awesomest wife ever. did i mention he made me greesy tacos for dinner as well? well he did. so yummy!
he sure knows how to make me feel like a thousand bucks! i love you brig!

WARNING: Long post ahead.
So I’ve been having a really hard time with the thought of starting Dental Hygiene school in the fall. Several things I’m not looking forward to- having to be away from Maddix all day, driving 45 minutes each way, & just being back in school sounds horrifying. Just ask Brig- I’m not the most pleasant/happiest person when I’m stressed :) I’m disliking the thought of coming home from school each day to my handsome husband and adorable baby only to study & study & study. Many of you are probably thinking…”why in the heck are you doing it if you’re hating on it so much!?” Don’t worry..I’ve been asking myself the same question. So, like any clever person should do, I decided to pray & pray & pray about it some more.
Well, the other day I felt inspired to read a book I got from someone awhile ago called “My Dear Sisters” by Gordon B. Hinkley. What I didn’t realize is that my answer was right there just waiting for me to pick it up! Thank goodness I listened to that prompting.
“First, educate your hands and your minds. You belong to a church which espouses education…Get all the education you can. Train yourselves to make a contribution to the society in which you live. There is an essence of the divine in the improvement of the mind.”
“I would wish that all of you women…would not have to go out into the marketplace to labor for income. But I know that for some of you this may be a necessity, & you will be better equipped to do so if your hands & minds are trained. Furthermore, whether it is applied to earning a living or not, education is an investment that never ceases to pay dividends of one kind or another.”
“And even though you marry, education will be of great benefit to you. Don’t just drift along, letting the days come & go without improvement in your lives. The Lord will bless you as you make the effort. Your lives will be enriched & your outlook broadened as your minds are opened to new vistas & knowledge.”
Those were only 3 quotes out of like 50 in that book. But those ones are what I really needed to hear. I am so grateful for the power of prayer. It is so real! I love knowing that our Heavenly Father hears & answers our prayers because he cares so much about all of his children.
School will definitely be a challenge for me. It scares me thinking that I could be grumpy & stressed for 2 years, but I know that the Lord will help me through it if I’m doing what’s right. I am going to try my best to be positive everyday! I better start practicing now…. :)
