we had way too much fun outside today.

lets just say, you can tell how much fun we had by how pink maddix’s little cheeks were.

he went crazy with the hose! and now every time we go outside, he jets right to it.

i sure am loving this age. i think i say that at every age though…it just keeps getting better!

puppy update: jimmer can play fetch and i’m proud. jimmer can bite and i’m not proud.

oh and puppies are a great form of birth control. in case you were wondering.

camelback

yesterday melanie {my sister visiting from Boston} and i hiked camelback. the girls in my family love this hike! we try to do it every time mel comes to visit. this time it was just us two since tara just had a baby, nan’s pregnant, and sweet mom was watching little maddix. we usually go early in the morning so that we can hurry and hike then make it to last chance in time for a fun little shopping spree :) we didnt do that this time since we both decided we didnt need to spend money on clothes. boo. we did hit a new record time climbing to the top though! and unfortunately this is the only picture we got and it was on mel’s phone. mostly taken just for proof that we made it to the top :) and maybe to send to my sister to brag about our new time.

My oldest sister Tara had her baby on March 21st.

outside

we’ve been spending lots of time outside lately. we just love to go out in the front yard and play together on the grass in the beautiful weather! im pretty sure i’ve already mentioned how much maddix loves being outside. we spend about 75% of our day in the yard, on walks, or at the park!

today for lunch we went to joes farm grill for my moms birthday. we took jimmer so he could run around and play with all the kids.

Jimmer…

I’m not talking about the incredible BYU basketball star that everyone and their mom is obsessed with..

I’m talking about our 7 week old Golden Retriever.

Yes that is his name, and yes my husband is obsessed with Jimmer Fredette.

I told him that I’m sure there will be at least 12,345 other people that will also name their new dogs Jimmer this year.

oh well, all that matters is that he makes both of my boys happy!

i think he’s adorable..

everyone tells me, “you think he’s cute until he pees on your carpet!”

well, he’s peed on the carpet plenty of times and i still think he’s adorable..maybe until he chews up my favorite jeans or couch?

when that happens, i will reconsider. but for now he’s just a cuddly puppy that sleeps all day.

{i may or may not have wanted the puppy due to being a tad bit baby hungry but not being able to get pregnant due to dental hygiene starting in the fall…}

saturday is a special day

yesterday maddix actually “slept in” {meaning he didn’t wake up until 7:30am}. it was beautiful! we decided to go on a family walk to fresh & easy to get some stuff to make a yummy breakfast. by the time we got home from the store we had about 20 minutes to make breakfast, eat breakfast, feed maddix, and get ready before we needed to leave to meet my family at usury pass. we did it in 30. SO close. brig made us delicious hash brown/bacon/egg burritos. mmmm… and i ate mine with ketchup :) it’s a lesueur thing. {if you didn't already know, we eat everything with ketchup}
brig carried maddix in a little yellow back pack while we all hiked up the mountain! maddix fell asleep half way up and stayed asleep until half way down. he looked so uncomfortable! when we got down, some of my family that didn't hike met us with lunch. we ate and hung out for awhile then headed back home.
maddix went down for another nap. i did some cleaning then hit up the gym for a little workout. when i got back, brig dared me to jump in the pool {water is still freeeezing.} i did only because i got a little mullah for it :) when i came out of the water, I was screeching with coldness…maddix was holding onto the outside of the fence just bawling because he thought something happened to me. poor kid!
the rest of the day included laying out, pulling weeds, and playing with m-dawg.
later we headed on over to good ol’ costa vida. a cute, nice old man from japan sat next to us and entertained maddix while we ate our grub. he kept saying, “i am taekwando master!” again, and again, and again… it was awesome! the full on accent combined with the hand motions made it super entertaining..not only for maddix but for us as well. maddix was cracking up!!!
after costa vida we went to my cousins wedding reception and then hung out with some friends.
what a fun, eventful day! we’re just one big fappy hamily :)
{quick story- so we’re on a road trip and my older sister was trying to get us to all get along and she said, “can’t we all just be one big fappy hamily??” lets just say it made us all get along because we were laughing so hard :) }

pulling weeds

so remember how i said that maddix loves to be outside? well i think that was an understatement. he is obsessed!!!
today i took him outside for what i though was going to be a minute. he walked over to the driveway and sat down on the curb by the rocks between our house and our neighbors house. i sat and watched him as he picked up rock by rock, and then a pile of dirt, and then some more rocks and placed threw them on the driveway..he did this over and over again. so i decided to pull some weeds while i was just sitting there. i would move over a little bit to another section of weeds and he would get up, walk to where i moved to, took a seat and began again! i thought he would get tired of throwing rocks and dirt onto the driveway after 10 minutes..but nope! we were our there for about a half hour. i realized he was getting a little red so we went inside. he was NOT happy about this. he could’ve stayed out there all day long! this makes me excited for this summer. he is going to love the swimming pool!!
this picture explains his love for baby einstein. normally brig or i will sit with him and point things out in the movie and try to teach him, but today we were desperate. brig doing homework and i was making dinner. the is the only thing that completely distracts him. i have been showing him the same baby eintsein movie since the day he was born and it is still the only show/movie he will sit through! i don’t get it..
i cant get enough of his little hand chillin on his double chin.

lucky 13

i thought that once maddix turned a year old i wouldnt be doing an update every single month…but i cant help it because he is doing so many new things!
today maddix is 13 months old. he is now walking everywhere {he loves it! and he gets embarrassed when we try to hold his hand}.
maddix loves dogs. every time he’s sees one.. “daw daw!”
maddix loves balls. my sister gave him a soccer ball for his bday and he cant get enough of it. i’ll kick it to him and he picks it up and throws it right back! he could be entertained by this for hours.
maddix loves to wave. the other day he just kept waving at me then clapping. he was waving at an old man at the store and smiling huge! it was so cute!!
maddix loves being outside. he will stand at the door and pound on it until i take him outside. he gets a huge smile on his face in the morning when i tell him we’re going on a walk. he can be cranky as can be, but once we walk outside he is so content!
maddix loves swinging. he smiles SO big when i take him to the park and swing him. sometimes he will not let go of the swing and i have to just wait until he’s had enough of it!
maddix loves dancing. he dances to music, he dances when he’s eating, he dances when he’s just sitting there. luckily he’s got his mommy’s moves :) right brig??
maddix loves bananas. every morning we come into the kitchen and he points to the bananas saying, “nana nana”. sometimes that is the only thing that he will eat! i cant complain.
maddix loves his silky. my grandma makes all the great grandkids a silky blanket when they are born. they are amazing. he takes it everywhere and anytime he sees it, he cuddles up to it.
maddix loves peek-a-boo. in fact he’s playing it with me as i’m typing this. he hides behind something and then pops out and says, “deh a heh”..because we always say, “wheres maddix? there he is!” so maybe he’s trying to say “there he is?” we’ll pretend that for now :)
maddix loves his mama. he follows me everywhere i go in the house. if im making dinner, he has to come hold on to my legs. if im getting ready, he follows me in the bathroom, pulls out my curling iron, straightener, blow dryer, brushes, and sit and plays with them.
maddix loves his dada. right before brig gets home from work, i tell maddix, “dada’s coming home!” then we go play in the front yard until he gets home and right when he pulls up and see’s him, he gets that same big cheesy smile on his face and then reaches for brig! i love it.
