camelback

yesterday melanie {my sister visiting from Boston} and i hiked camelback. the girls in my family love this hike! we try to do it every time mel comes to visit. this time it was just us two since tara just had a baby, nan’s pregnant, and sweet mom was watching little maddix. we usually go early in the morning so that we can hurry and hike then make it to last chance in time for a fun little shopping spree :) we didnt do that this time since we both decided we didnt need to spend money on clothes. boo. we did hit a new record time climbing to the top though! and unfortunately this is the only picture we got and it was on mel’s phone. mostly taken just for proof that we made it to the top :) and maybe to send to my sister to brag about our new time.

My oldest sister Tara had her baby on March 21st.

bridal shower cake

i made this cake and the cupcakes for the best friends bridal shower. the top tier was a conffetti cake with vanilla buttercream and the bottom tier was a triple chocolate cake with chocolate cream cheese frosting. it was super delicious! congrats carissa and dallen!!

challenge day UNO

so i decided that i am going to start noticing the good in everything..wow what a great idea huh??
friday:

• had a good friend & her cute little girl over to swim & chill
• made yummy hawaiian haystacks
• received the sweetest call from my friend megan
• challenged my handsome husband to like 5 games of yahtzee..{no one needs to know who won.}

saturday:

• maddix slept in until 7am
• maddix now has 2 teeth!
• ran 3 miles without the vicious sun beating down on me
• enjoyed a peaceful swim alone
• saw the most beautiful yellow butterfly
• made 4 lovely trips to wal mart{one in which i left my groceries in the cart..who does that?? i do}
• baked a cake
• spent time with my sweet boys
• maddix survived an unpleasant fall off of the changing table..
• devoured down a delectable salad and pizza at bj’s with family
• i learned several lessons.

sunday:

• maddix slept in until 7am..
• listened to elder neil l. andersen from the quorum of the twelve apostles speak at our stake conference
• brigham & i felt the Spirit so strongly
• he left a blessing upon the youth that no matter what choices they decide to make in life, to always remember that they heard testimony from someone that KNOWS that Jesus Christ lives.
• felt so much comfort
• had so much fun decorating a cake!
• scripture study with brigham
• ate a delicious dinner at my parents house
• visited with both families

NEXT item of business. Maddix LOVES LOVES baby food. {yes even his peas.} maddix scoots like crazy. likes to pretend like he knows how to talk. makes spitting noises. enjoys waking up in the middle of the night STILL at least 3 times now. has now started to get to a sitting position from his belly {it is soo cute when i go into his room in the middle of the night when he’s crying and he’s just sitting there. its precious. the sitting in his crib part..not the crying part}

SO i really wanted to get into cake decorating so i went and bought some stuff, watched and read some different things online, and threw together a cake. this is what i got.

i want some more practice but i need an occasion to make a cake for! anyone need a cake for anything?? party? just to eat? gift? anything? i would love some practice so let me know. please!
