new favorite snack

this is one of our new favorite snacks. yummy and super healthy!

cracker+hummus+tabouli=complete yumminess

you can buy these at walmart

all you need is some flatbread, some hummus, and some tabouli!

Simple tabouli recipe {from my awesome madre!}

• parsley
• olive oil
• lemon juice
• green onions

chop up some parsley and a few green onions, pour in a little olive oil, squeeze in a little lemon juice, and you have it! it’s so simple and delicious with the hummus.

i had this for lunch, an afternoon snack, and a midnight snack :)

surgery

Yesterday we left our house at 5:15 and got to the hospital by 6:00am for check in. Poor Maddix was so tired and hungry. They didn’t take him back until 7:45. That was sad to see him crying as they carried him away! I knew that he would soon be asleep and everything would be okay. Brig and I waited in the waiting room for about an hour until the doctor came out and told us that the surgery went well. He fixed his undescended testicle and also a hernia that was found. We went back into the recovery room and saw Maddix as he was waking up. I got to hold him and feed him his sippy cup of water & apple juice. He gulped it right down! He was so hungry because I hadn’t nursed him since 8:30 the night before. His poor legs were completely numb still. They monitored him a little longer and we were able to take him home.

He slept the whole ride home and about an hour after we got home. When he woke up I’m pretty sure the numbness in his legs had worn off because he was walking and crawling everywhere! After an hour he fell back asleep and slept for a couple hours. When he woke up he was not happy. I could tell he was in a lot of pain. To make a long story short, he took a few more naps that day and then went to bed early. He slept through the whole night.

This morning he woke up at 8. My mom came over to help out. She was rocking him and he fell right asleep for 2 hours in her arms! We went for a few walks today and just took it easy.  He took a few more naps today and is already asleep tonight!

LOTS and lots of sleeping which is great for all of us :) I think he is healing very quickly and hopefully he’ll feel more normal tomorrow!

I am so grateful for amazing friends and family who are so supportive to us! Thank you all for everything!

good & bad

bad news: Maddix has to get surgery on his boy parts tomorrow :( Luckily he will be asleep through it, which means I will have a much harder time with it than he will. Poor kid. Brig will be able to be there with us thank goodness!

 

good news: I got accepted to dental hygiene at mcc! I will start in August. This was very unexpected considering that I didnt know that I was still on the list. You have no idea how excited i am about this. The hours are going to be perfect especially since it is so close to my house. I know it will still be a lot of work but it will be so worth it. I feel so good about it this time. The only downer is that we wont be able to have another baby for a few years, but I am young so I have plenty of years to have more kids :)

family time

i love when brig has days off from work. it means that we get to have lots of family time! my sister in law watched maddix so that we could go play racquetball together at the gym. it was so much fun and such an awesome workout! holy cow. later we went on a family walk to the park. maddix’s favorite part of the park is the swings and the dogs that we always see there.

later we had all the weights over for FHE and to celebrate Rayder, Maddix, and Brigham’s mom’s birthday. brig taught a great lesson on the plan of salvation and then we ate brownies and ice cream and opened gifts.

today was perfect. i love watching brig play with maddix, he is such an amazing dad. i just love my family so much!

Colorado

Last week we flew into Colorado Springs to visit our friends Kamron & Sarah Webb and their cute little girl Bentley. They live in a small beautiful town called Aurora about an hour and a half from Colorado Springs.

While we were there we got to go do temple work in the Denver temple, visited the Denver Zoo, went out to eat, the boys went to a Denver Nuggets game, Sarah & I went to the Pioneer Woman’s book signing in downtown Denver, made several pisookies & pie pops, ate Sarah’s delicious dinners, watched the worst movie in the history of movies, walked around an outdoor mall and almost froze to death, went to church, took lots of pictures with Sarah’s amazing photography skills, and had some fun talks! Maddix wasn't a huge fan of sleeping in the same room as us…he was awake at 5 every morning and woke up about 5 times each night. Luckily, he did pretty well during the day.

It was so much fun being able to hang out with our friends! We were so glad we were able to go visit them. Thanks Kam and Sarah!! {and Bentley for keeping Maddix entertained!!}

my valentine

yesterday morning i texted brig. he texted back. how precious.

for valentines day i asked brig if he could have any meal what would it be? he responded, “steak, corn on the cob or squash & zucchini, and mashed potatoes. but since im in a competition…chicken instead of steak.”

i grilled up some marinated garlic lemon chicken, sauted some rosemary squash and zucchini, and whipped up some fluffy cream cheese/sour cream mashed potatoes!

it was pretty delish. we enjoyed the meal with a lit candle, baby in bed, and some sparkling cider!

{and later we ate pisookies of course.}

maddix helped me decorate :)

oh and brig treated me with an awesome back rub…my personal favorite.
