sick day
brig came home after work yesterday with a VERY HIGH fever. i need to buy a thermometer for my boys. they get sick lots. he has been laying around all yesterday afternoon and all day today. poor guy. maddix and i took lots of trips out of the house today to avoid getting sick & to give daddy some quiet time. two trips to costco & one trip to once upon a child. {i love costco samples}. tonight i put maddix to bed, made dinner, woke brig up to eat with me :), then headed to mutual. for dinner i made delicious taquitos {recipe found here}. they were amazing. i also baked some yummy asparagus. sprinkled it with kosher salt and melted butter, soy sauce and balsamic vinegarette over it. it was delish. lets hope brig is better tomorrow..i dont like when people i love are sick. its sad.

children children children
meet my husband
let me explain this picture to you.
these are my cousins kids. he did not know any of their names before they all swarmed to his amazingly attractive face/ipod touch. now he knows all of their names and probably lots of other stuff. who knows.
so, i find him in the basement playing fruit ninja and paper airplane with each kid taking turns. it was precious.
i just watched him, imagining him with all ten {when i say ten, i mean five} of our future kids huddled around him playing games, singing songs, tickling, and loving on each other.
one more example. we will be sitting at my sister in laws house with all the family, when i notice that brigham is missing. so, i look outside and 100% of the time he is right there playing basketball, football or soccer with the nephews.
i love it.

londons run
this morning brig and i ran the londons run 1/2 marthon. it was about 36 degrees when we got there so we picked up our stuff and then sat in our car for about 20 minutes until at least the sun came out {we played scrabble while we waited :)} when the race started i was just assuming that brig and i would run together the whole way since he has a hurt knee. um..not even a chance. he took off and we were separated at mile…1/2. i was totally fine with this considering he trained hard for this and wanted to do his best..it was just a little unexpected since he has a sprained knee!!! anyways, i tried to make sure i could at least see brig the whole time and i figured that would keep me running fast. nope, lost him on that one too, at about mile 4 {when i had to stop for a bathroom break. dang bladder.} brig ended up getting 1 hr and 36 minutes and he was there at the finish line to greet me about 6 minutes later! {1 hr. 42 min.} i am happy to say that i beat my time from my last half marathon by 10 minutes. i ended up getting 2nd place out of the girls in my age group! my family came to see us after we finished. it was nice to have lots of support :) they also had a sweet reptile display {picture of niece tessa and alligator below}. so basically brig’s knee is dead and im just sore everywhere. we are so glad we did it though :) it felt great to accomplish our goal!
tonight we will celebrate at costa vida :) {they gave everyone a $5 gift certificate to CV!} im excited. oh and ocean blue frozen yogurt. i also celebrated this afternoon by finishing off my 1.5 quart chocolate recess peanut butter cup ice cream that my brother in law & sister in law brought us last saturday. brigham did not eat any of this by the way :)))) oh, and if this surprises you, then you do not know me that well. we still both had to laugh about it though :) {i get it from my grandma, she orders two ice cream cones when she goes to mcdonalds. she inspires me} anyone else have an addiction like this???

twins
this is kind of a personal story for me, but its so interesting and neat that i just had to share. if you dont mind bloody talk then keep reading. thursday night after my doctors appointment i had really bad cramps. i had to lay on the couch and curl up in a ball. i was thinking “why am i just NOW having cramps?? I already bypassed the sac!” to keep it clean, i’ll tell you the short version. a few hours after having cramps they stopped. I was finally calming down from my emotional day and guess what? I just then bypassed something that looked exactly like a 8 or 9 week old fetus. no joke. i started shaking and freaking out because this now became so real to me. i called brig in the room and he took a quick glance at it. we did not keep it for several reasons. the main one is that we did not think to. it was 9:30pm and it didnt cross my mind to call the dr. may sound crazy but i just didnt.
the next morning i decided to call the dr. and let them know what happened. when they called back they explained to me that this was very interesting because the dr. had already removed the fully attached sac. which means that the fetus was in the sac.
today the dr. called and let me know he got the test results back and the sac that he removed definitely had a fetus inside. he let me know that most likely i had miscarried twins. the reason that he had not seen that before is because at my dr’s appointment when he did the ultrasound, there was only one heart beat. he said that most likely one of them died before that appointment.
wow.
that wouldve been a tough couple of years ahead of us! 3 kids under the age of 1 1/2!! they just wanted to come down together so badly. then maybe they decided..maybe 2 of us will make mommy’s young hairs turn grey a little sooner than she’d like. maybe she’d do better if we came one at a time :)
thanks again for everyones love and support during this tough time. i am so blessed to have such wonderful friends and family.

life
running. running. running. you probably hear me talk about this a lot. maybe a lot a lot. but i cant help it. i finally started running again after skipping a whole week. you might laugh when i say a whole week..but really. thats a lot when youre training for a race. my body has been through a lot this past week, but im happy to say that im almost back to normal :) saturday i ran 3 miles to see how my body would hold up. that was a heck of a 3 mile run! i thought i was going to fall over. my legs were about to crumble and my pelvis bone was aching {i know..wierd}. so, monday i went and tried 5 miles. after i got past the nasty 3 miles, i was floating on a cloud :) it was the best therapy..it allowed me to take my mind off things. i finally got back to my original speed..we’ll see how the 1/2 goes.
brig has also been through a lot this week. he hurt his knee snowboarding. my dad has been doing some therapy and stuff on it to help it heal quicker but every time brig runs or plays basketball on it, it makes it worse. of course he still insists on running the 1/2. this should be interesting. wish us luck! :)
maddix has also been through a lot this week! both parents injured, emotional mommy, and even through all this he started taking steps! however, it does take SO much to get him to walk. like holding the tv remote, cell phone, camera in front of him. bad news is that he knows the trick..he walks to it and we take it away from him. oh well! he’ll be walking soon enough :)
these guys make me extremely happy. did i mention how good looking they are? i just love them to death!!!

babies are miracles
yesterday we lost our precious little baby. I felt like I was already getting attached to my baby. we are feeling so extremely grateful that it only happened when i was 9 weeks along. But that didnt stop me from feeling any pain. I have gained a new appreciation for women that go through miscarriages or still born babies. It is such an empty feeling.
On Tuesday I had my doctors appointment and everything looked great. We saw the heart beat on the ultrasound and it was beating just as it should. That night I had a little bit of discharge but didnt think much about it. Wednesday morning I started bleeding. I called the doctor and they told me that they think that it was probably because of the ultrasound and most likely it was coming from the cervix, not the uterus. This was comforting. They told me to go on bed rest for 24 hours and if it didnt go away then to call. My mom took Maddix and I got lots of rest. Thursday morning it got worse. I called the doctor and scheduled an appointment at 1:15. I was on bed rest until then. I am so grateful for my mom that let me lounge at her house while she entertained maddix. I didnt have any cramping through any of this until a little before the doctors appointment. It continued to get worse at the doctors and was hurting pretty bad while I was there waiting. When they brought me back, they did an exam and i bypassed the sac already. He told me the news, i was shocked. they both gave me hugs, let me cry, and finished up. I called Brig right away and let him know the sad news. He came home, gave me a big hug and just let me cry..and eat ice cream :) I didnt think it would hurt this much. Physically and emotionally. {I had very bad cramps when I got home for a few hours}. After a few hours I was able to talk on the phone without crying. But I would end up breaking down right after of course. My awesome mother in law and sister in law brought us dinner and Brig helped me with Maddix.
This morning I am doing a lot better. I got the rest my body needed and today I’m going to be strong. i’m going to spend lots of time with family to take my mind off of it. Thanks for everyone’s love and support. I appreciate it!
I am so grateful for the plan of salvation. I know that I will see my baby again. I am very grateful to have Maddix to keep me busy and to keep my mind occupied :) He is such a blessing and is everything brig and I could ever want in a little boy. My sister in law the other day reminded me that baby’s are such miracles. I dont think I ever fully appreciated that when I had Maddix because he was completely healthy and my pregnancy went perfect. Babies really are miracles. I know that Heavenly Father has a plan for us and that this trial in our life happened for a reason. I have so much faith in my Savior and know that everything will be okay :)
